The Gee-Gees swim team finished off the regular season with a competition against the Carleton Ravens at Montpetit Hall on Friday evening.

On the women’s side the Gee-Gees won all 14 of their races, several of which they swept first through third. Some of those sweeps came in the 100-meter backstroke, 50-meter breaststroke, and the 50-meter freestyle.

On the men’s side the USPORTS fifth ranked Gee-Gees team won 11 of the 12 races that they competed in. Similar to the women’s side the men swept places 1-3 in five of their races, including the 100 and 200-meter backstroke, as well as the 50-meter breaststroke.

Head coach Dave Heinbuch said, “We just wanted to get everyone in the water one last time. This was a fun opportunity to get everyone on the starting blocks one last time before we head into the OUA Finals.”

Heinbuch also said, “This team is ready for the OUA Championships. They’ve trained hard all season, and put in the work that they needed to, now they’re ready to swim fast, and I cannot wait to see their hard work pay off for them.”

The Gee-Gees will be headed to Western University, February 8-10 for the OUA Championships.
