Second-year forward Kyle Ireland (Rosetown, Sask.) opened the scoring for the Gee-Gees in the first period. Fourth-year left wing Matthieu Methot (Ottawa, Ont.) and second-year forward Luc Olivier Blain (Longueuil, Qué.) both finished with two assists.
First-year rookie Russel Abbott (Mill Bay, BC) minded the net for the Gee-Gees at Guelph, coming away with a strong 27 saves.
“I thought it was a big improvement from last weekend’s game,” said head coach Réal Paiement, “Our forecheck was very aggressive and we created some turnovers; with any luck we could’ve scored two or four in the first period. It’s a good solid road game for us and a big win after our starting loss at Nipissing.”
The Gee-Gees will be facing Laurier (0-1-0 OUA) tomorrow evening, on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. to round out their weekend on the road.
