The first uOttawa Athletes of the Week for October are Jackson Bennett and Alex Ellis.

Ellis has played a big role in every match so far, helping to lead the women’s rugby team to a 6-0 record. This weekend the fourth-year forward carried two tries across the line in a 48-12 win over Sherbrooke. The Ottawa native is the team leader and ranks third in the RSEQ conference with nine tries this season. Ellis, who studies International Development and Globalization, was a member of Canada’s U20 National Team this summer and competed in a three-game series against England.

Bennett stood out for Ottawa during the 2016 Panda Game, making 7 solo tackles and assisting on three more. Two of those tackles came in the Ravens backfield, accounting for seven yards lost. The Ottawa native and Geography major was also impressive on the returns team, netting 78 yards on kickoff returns. Bennett and the 4-1 football team will take on York this Friday at 7 p.m. at Gee-Gees Field.
