The Gee-Gees very own Ty Cranston has been selected 56th overall by the Montreal Alouettes in the 2017 CFL draft. The big-bodied defensive back has been a staple for the Gee-Gees over the last four years totaling 129 tackles over 30 games. Ty capped off a great U SPORTS career by leading the Gee-Gees defense with 54 tackles this season alone. He was the overall team leader for solo tackles (44), assists (20), total tackles (54) and tackles per game (6.8). Cranston also added two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery to his great season.

Ty will have the opportunity to compete for a position at the Alouettes training camp, but can still return to the Gee-Gees to complete his eligibility in the fall. Congratulations Ty.
