Ontario University Athletics has announced the 2017-18 regular season schedule for basketball. uOttawa heads into the 2017-18 campaign having appeared in the last five straight OUA Final Four tournaments and ranked in the U SPORTS Top Ten for 63 straight weeks.

The Gee-Gees regular season tips off November 3 at home against Algoma followed by a November 4 matchup against Guelph at Montpetit Hall.

The OUA conference has realigned into two divisions, East and West. Ottawa will play each of its seven East Division opponents twice, with all of those games coming in 2018 with the exception of one game against Carleton in November. The single matchup cross-over play with the West Division rounds out the 23-game schedule.

The other major change is the splitting of the final rounds of the OUA Playoffs into two weekends with the semi finals taking place one week before the Wilson Cup Championship final.

Some notable regular season matchups include a rematch of the 2017 OUA bronze medal game against Brock in St. Catharines on December 1. A rematch of the 2017 OUA semi-final against Ryerson will take place at home on January 6.

The Bytown Battle continues against Carleton on November 22 at the Ravens’ Nest before the two rivals face off on February 2 for the 12th edition of the Capital Hoops Classic at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Ottawa’s annual home exhibition tournament, the Jack Donohue Tournament, will take place October 20-22. Teams and schedules will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2017-18 Gee-Gees season will be the eighth under head coach James Derouin, who holds a 110-33 regular season career record. Last season Ottawa was 16-3 in regular season play.
