Fifth-year post Dax Dessureault scored 19 points Friday as No. 3 Gee-Gees men’s basketball out-scored Toronto in the third quarter to run to a 16th win in the OUA East with a 80-72 road win over the Varsity Blues. 

uOttawa, which ended the regular season 2-0 against Toronto, erased a 39-36 half-time deficit with a 25-11 run in the third quarter.

The game started 30 minutes late due to a problem with the shot clock.

“Intense,” said Gee-Gees head coach Dave DeAveiro. “Our guys showed a lot of character.”

Gee-Gees fourth-year transfer guard Josh Wright scored 16 points with three rebounds.

The Gee-Gees were out-rebounded 36-25. Toronto had 19 turnovers to uOttawa’s 11.

uOttawa visits Ryerson (11-7 OUA) Saturday, February 7 (8:00 p.m.).
