Gee-Gees Take Home Bronze Medal

The Gee-Gees will be coming back to Ottawa with the Bronze medal after defeating the host Dalhousie Tigers 72-53 in a battle for third place on Sunday afternoon at the 2009 Rod Shoveller Basketball Tournament which was held on the campus of the Maritime University.

After trailing 36-30 at halftime, the Gee-Gees picked things up significantly in the final two quarters outscoring their opposition 42-16.

“The difference in the game is that we had a great second half, we got back to playing the way we did before the break, said Dave DeAveiro, Gee-Gees head coach.

“We were moving the ball offensively like I know we can. The tournament helped us shake of the rust from the holidays and will definitely help as we prepare to start up again in the OUA beginning this Friday. ”

The Gee-Gees return to OUA action this Friday, January 8, 2010 at Montpetit Hall against the York Lions. Game time is 8:00 pm.
