McGill 39 80
uOttawa 54 102
Warren Ward, 23 points – uOttawa
Louis Gauthier, 16 points – uOttawa
Second-year guard Warren Ward (Brampton, Ont.) was sick with a sore throat Saturday afternoon, but that didn’t stop him from racking up 23 points and leading the uOttawa Gee-Gees to a 102-80 win over the McGill Redmen.
“Warren really battled today,” said head coach Dave DeAveiro, “there was a big difference today.”
The energized Gee-Gees were up 54-39 at the half and extended their lead to 22 points by the game’s end, bouncing back from a less than stellar effort last night against UQAM.
“We shot incredibly well; we were more active,” added DeAveiro.
Fourth-year forward Louis Gauthier (Ottawa, Ont.) also contributed to the team’s win with a solid 16 point performance.
The Gee-Gees play their third and final game of the tournament’s round robin tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. when they will face the McMaster Marauders.
