The uOttawa Gee-Gees are off to the OUA Final Four next weekend in Hamilton after a huge 85-60 upset over Toronto at home.
Warren Ward led the Gee-Gees with 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, while rookie Johnny Berhanemeskel chipped in with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the win.
Head coach James Derouin was very pleased with the win and for the chance to play in the Final Four: “It’s a huge opportunity for our team especially with the Score covering it live, and being a neutral site. It’s great for our program, and to get that exposure we’re looking for; we’re excited.”
“Warren and Johnny again both shot the lights out from three. From the start of the game it was definitely our defence, we just did an incredible job defending and dominating the rebounds. It made our offense easy, but the defense is definitely what I am most happy with,” added Derouin.
The Gee-Gees will travel to Hamilton next weekend for the OUA Final Four and take on Lakehead on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The game will be broadcasted live on the Score.
