The University of Ottawa men’s basketball team had another successful weekend going two-for-two against their Kingston-based opposition on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

The Gee-Gees defeated Queen’s (72-59) on Friday night then were victorious again on Saturday afternoon, this time knocking off the winless RMC Paladins 94-40.

“We played a lot of our young guys against RMC on Saturday,” said Dave DeAveiro, Gee-Gees head coach.

“We wanted to get them some more playing time and provide them with experience in different situations.

It was really good to rest guys like Josh (Gibson-Bascombe), Warren (Ward) and Donnie (Gibson) because they’ve been tons of minutes for us lately.”

Now the stage is now set for another chapter of uOttawa versus the Carleton Ravens.

First place in the OUA East will be up for grabs in the Gee-Gees last regular season game next Saturday night at the Carleton Ravens Nest.

The Gee-Gees lost to Carleton by eight points (74-66) at the Capital Hoops Classic last month at Scotiabank Place.

If uOttawa can defeat the Ravens by nine points they will claim first place in the division and receive a bye into the OUA quarter-finals. They would play host to a game on Saturday, February 27.

If they don’t win, uOttawa will finish second and would also host an OUA quarter final game against a qualifier on Saturday, February 27.

The Gee-Gees are off until next Saturday night when they face their cross town rival, the Carleton Ravens (18-2 OUA).Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. at the Ravens Nest.
