Gee-Gees at a Glance – Feb. 2-4

Both Gee-Gees men’s and women’s basketball teams will be at the Canadian Tire Centre taking on the Carleton Ravens for the Capital Hoops Classic on Friday at 6 and 8 p.m.

HOME AND AWAY:

This weekend, the Gee-Gees women’s volleyball team (3-12) has two key matches with implications on playoff positioning. On Saturday at 1 p.m., they will be in Sherbrooke to take on the Vert et Or (3-12). Sherbrooke holds a 1-2 lead in the season series, a win would allow the Gee-Gees to climb out of the tie for last place in the RSEQ. Action will be streaming live on Sherbrooke’s YouTube channel.

The following day, on Sunday, women’s volleyball is back at Montpetit Hall to go head-to-head with the UQAM Citadins (4-10) in another important matchup. With the Gee-Gees leading the season series 2-1, another win would put the Gee-Gees in the right place for a playoff appearance. Action gets underway at 2 p.m. and will be streaming live on OUA.tv

Gee-Gees men’s hockey (12-8-4) is heading into the second to last weekend of the season prepared to do battle with two tough opponents. On Friday, the team will be in Montreal to take on the Concordia Stingers (15-6-3), who they have played close all season, action gets underway at 7:30 p.m. and will be streaming live on Concordia’s streaming network.

On Sunday, the Gee-Gees will be at home to take on the UQTR Patriotes (8-16-1) for the third time in two weeks. The game is the Gee-Gees’ Ottawa East Minor Hockey Association Day where the stands will be packed with players, family, and friends of the OEMHA. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. and will be streaming live on OUA.tv.

This weekend, team members from Gee-Gees track and field will be in Boston, New York City, and Ithaca, NY for various meets. On Friday, Harvard University’s Crimson Elite event takes place in Boston, along with Boston University’s Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational. In New York City, the Armory Collegiate Invitational gets underway, while across town on Staten Island, the Villanova Wildcat Invitational kicks off on Saturday. While the BU and Armory Invitational wrap up on Saturday, Ithaca College’s event closes out the weekend for Gee-Gees athletes. For results and updates follow the team on Twitter at @geegees_trackxc.
