The four ranked University of Ottawa teams remain on the national radar with slight shuffling this week in three of the four sports.

The men’s swimming team holds steady at no. 6 this week, heading into the CIS Championships which will take place this weekend at Université Laval. Ottawa will send a team of four to Laval to try to replicate last season’s ninth overall finish.

Both of Ottawa’s basketball teams moved up this week, with the women landing at a season-best no. 6 ranking and the men sliding back into the no. 2 spot. The teams will close out the regular season this weekend at Nipissing and Laurentian with the OUA playoffs beginning on Wednesday, March 2. The Gee-Gees are in position to hold a bye for the first round of the playoffs and host a league quarterfinal on Saturday, March 5.

The women’s hockey playoffs begin this week, with the Gee-Gees travelling to McGill for game one of the best-of-3 RSEQ semifinal series on Thursday. Ottawa earned third place in the RSEQ conference with an 11-6-3 record, while McGill’s 13-3-2 record was good for second in the conference. Nationally, McGill sits at no. 3 for the seventh straight week while Ottawa moved down one spot this week to no. 9.
