*This will be the Gee-Gees’ last weekend at home, with only six games left in the regular season.
*The Gee-Gees lost 54-61 to Toronto and just edged Ryerson, 60-58, on the road two weeks ago.
*The Gee-Gees are tied with Ryerson for the fourth spot in the OUA East, with Toronto following just behind in sixth.
*Toronto native and third-year centre Hannah Sunley-Paisley was last week’s uOttawa athlete of the week. Sunley-Paisley is currently ranked third in the country for points with 296, and sixth for points per game with 18.5.
*Players from all of this weekend’s competition are currently leading the CIS rankings for rebounds. uOttawa’s Sunley-Paisley continues to lead the standings with 172; Toronto’s fourth-year forward Niki Schutz (Toronto, Ont.) is ranked second with 163 and Ryerson’s second-year forward Angela Tilk (Welland, Ont.) is third with 153.
*Schutz is also seventh in the CIS for points per game with 18.3, once again just behind Sunley-Paisley.
*“Both games are toss-ups; if we play well we should do well,” said head coach Andy Sparks. “Our defence will the key to success [in these last six regular season games]. We need to get a little bit more out of our rebounds, get some offensive stick-backs off of our offensive rebounds,” added Sparks.
