NCAA preseason continues with home date

The Gee-Gees women’s basketball team will test its recovery time this week, returning from a 10-day stint in Costa Rica late Thursday night before facing the Seton Hall University Pirates at Montpetit Hall on Friday night.

Game time is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale at with a two dollar discount for online advance sales (minimum two hours before tip-off).

Ottawa played five games while in Costa Rica, matching up twice against the Mississippi Rebels and the Arizona State Sun Devils along with one tilt against Middle Tennessee State. The Gee-Gees were swept 0-5 by their American opponents before spending three nights on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.  

Several new players hit the court for Ottawa in Costa Rica as the team rebuilds for 2016-17. Melina Wishart made her return, having last played for uOttawa in the 2009-10 season, the veteran shooter is now studying Education. Recruits Geneviève Guay and Amélie Hachey also contributed during the trip.

Returning players and a likely starting lineup for uOttawa include fifth-year point guard Julia Soriano, senior centre Katherine Lemoine, power forward Sarah Besselink, Julia Dostaler at the wing, and the defensive stopper Kellie Forand at the two-guard.

Seton Hall will arrive in Ottawa after a loss to McGill on Tuesday night and a win over a club team on Monday night, both in Montreal.
