The Ottawa Senators Foundation announced today the community organizations which will receive funding for the 2017 Sens Camperships summer program. uOttawa’s Gee-Gees Summer Camps is one of the 19 organizations selected, spanning across south-eastern Ontario and south-western Quebec.
The funding will allow children whose families would otherwise not be able to afford the registration the chance to play, learn, and create the incredible memories that summer camp can provide.
This support will enhance the existing Send a Kid to Camp program, a uOttawa Employee Giving campaign initiative which has supported the placement of more than 170 children in Gee-Gees Summer Camps over the past five summers.
“We are proud to be supported this year by the Ottawa Senators Foundation,” says Paul Ausman, Program Coordinator for Camps at uOttawa Sports Services. "Being named as part of this great group of organizations underscores how much camp matters for kids. It means a lot to our camp staff and student-athletes and we look forward to welcoming as many kids from the Ottawa-Gatineau community as possible while continuing to build a positive relationship with the Ottawa Senators Foundation for years to come."
Gee-Gees Summer Camps give children and youth 5 to 17 years old the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and activities. The uOttawa campus is a welcoming and bilingual learning place and each Gee-Gees camp is specialized by sport, which allows the participants to fulfill their potential in small groups according to their age and skill level.
“The Ottawa Senators Foundation is proud to include the uOttawa Gee-Gees Summer Camps as one of the recipients of the SENS Campership grant program.“ said Danielle Robinson, president and CEO, Ottawa Senators Foundation “Their reputation for delivering programs that foster increased self-confidence, physical activity, nutritional awareness, teamwork, and leadership skills are perfectly aligned with our goals and objectives.”
