Another year has come and the University of Ottawa Intramural Programs is pleased to announce welcome changes as well as impressive statistics. Sports Services has recently launched a new website, and with it comes the addition of a progressive and user friendly Intramural platform. The website is both visually appealing and offers a large bank of information to which participants have easy access. At first glance, participants will quickly notice that our Objectives and Intramural Philosophy stand at the forefront of our operations. The addition of our Philosophy allows for transparency and insight into what it is we stand for, such as: participation, employment opportunity, school spirit, pride, and accessibility. It is our goal to root all of these elements into the foundation of our programs in order to promote enjoyable active living on campus.

In the spirit of transparency, Intramural Programs would like to present key findings and statistics. Based on feedback received from first semester participants we stand at an astounding 86% participant satisfaction rate. We strive to maintain a satisfaction rate that exceeds the standards set by most other universities. At the completion of our second semester registration, we currently stand at 8314 participants (as of January 20th, 2015). The number of participants has increased by roughly 40% from the year 2012. By all accounts, we are maximizing participation by offering students and community members increased facility time. This is possible through participation demand and additional facility space. In fact, the 2014-2015 season will see 2902 matches be played across a variety of sports and venues. It should be noted that a large portion of our sports are offered for: male, female, and coed leagues. Additionally, an increase in participants coincides with an increase in employment opportunity. We offer students the opportunity to earn income through a stimulating and enjoyable work environment. Employees benefit from competitive wages and an academic friendly flexible scheduling system. If you feel as though you have the heart of a Gee-Gee and are looking for an opportunity to join our team, please consult the employment page on our website for upcoming postings.

It is with great gratitude that we extend a farewell to Stephanie Donnelly, after dedicating four years of commitment to the Intramural Programs as an Assistant Manager. We wish her the best of luck with her future endeavours.

The University of Ottawa Intramural Programs is a prominent figure amongst Canadian universities due to its commitment to excellence. This premiere program will continue building upon existing strengths and deliver sustainable programs to its members. In doing so, we will continue being an influential part of student life here on campus, instilling a sense of belonging that the University of Ottawa strives to achieve.

Do you have the heart of a Gee-Gee?
