Fitness Facilities at uOttawa – Part 1 – The Sports Complex (SCS)

Whether you’re heading into your first year or your fourth, we’d like to share with you some information about the fitness facilities we offer you, the student/employee. uOttawa offers a large array of options when it comes to physical fitness. This article will outline the Minto Sports Complex (more commonly known as SCS).

SCS is home to four of the university’s Varsity sports teams; Men’s and Women’s Hockey, Women’s Soccer and Women’s Rugby. The facility has two ice rinks, one with 850 seats as well as the Matt Anthony Field (FIFA 2-Star certification) which can seat 1,500 and it’s made from Field Turf artificial surface. The arena and field are also home to our intramural leagues, from soccer to ultimate, flag football and hockey.

The Health and Lifestyle Centre is also located in the Sports Complex, spread out over 8,000 square feet offering various cardiovascular machines, multiple weight machines, and free weights. On top of that we offer a personal training service, squash courts and a multi-sports room located right next to the HLC is used for a wide range of registered and drop-in classes year round (such as indoor cycling, dance and PT).

In addition, a physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic provides opportunities for student practicums and offers valuable services to the local community. The Client Services desk located in the front of the complex also serves to answer any and all sports and activities related question should you have any. We also cannot forget that there is also two lecture rooms and is the home of the Sports Services Offices.
