The interfaculty and services challenge was underway on Tuesday night, where members of the University of Ottawa community grouped up to play an evening 5 game volleyball tournament.
With 16 teams and over 128 participants across 4 courts, the volleyball challenge proved to be a huge success. Professors, students, staff members and others were able to get together for an evening of volleyball. With 5 games apiece, it was a busy evening down in Montpetit gymnasium.
With a tie breaker at the end of the round robin, and three undefeated teams, the Smash Doctors ended up bringing the title back to Roger Guindon!
This interaction, coupled with some friendly competition amongst the faculties and services, helps participants feel a stronger sense of attachment to both their faculty and the University as a whole thus increasing overall school spirit.
“I really like the friendly, but competitive atmosphere. What I like the most is having the opportunity to mix with students as well as employees in a context other than work. It brings out a side of them that we would not see otherwise”, noted Philippe Demers, a Food Services employee who participates in the volleyball tournament since its first edition seven years ago.
“I had a great time.” First year employee Matt Richer commented, “Good volleyball, even better people!”
Sports Services would like to take the time to thank the Intramurals team, Food Services and Fathers n Sons for their contributions!
