5 ways to keep fit during the Winter

Winter is right around the corner and many people start to feel lost when it comes to staying in shape during the cold Canadian weather. Luckily for us, Campus Rec offers a wide variety of programs that will get you up and moving. Here are 5 ways you can stay in shape all winter long and have fun doing it:

  1. Skating

Have you always wanted to skate on the Rideau Canal but never learned how to skate? Why not take advantage of that this year and enroll in beginners’ skating classes!

Skating is a great way to stay in shape because its good cardio and builds endurance while improving your balance and flexibility. If you’re already a good skater, we offer advanced level classes as well!

  1. Personal Training

Get a personal trainer to help you achieve your new year’s resolution fitness goals. Having a personal trainer guide your training minimizes mistakes, ensures you’re training correctly, and pushes you to develop healthy habits both inside the gym and out.

  1. Dance Classes

For more fun, you can join a dance class to practice your favorite moves to your favorite songs. Dancing is a good way to improve your cardio, muscular endurance and improve your overall fitness levels.

Campus Rec offers a variety of dancing classes for beginners and advanced dancers, registration is open now so sign up early and avoid the rush!

  1. Martial Arts

Kick-it up a notch and join a martial art classes to stay fit while learning unique skills that promote discipline, strong bones, strength, and improve flexibility. Campus rec offers beginner and advanced level classes in Karate, Taekwondo, Kung-Fu, Aikido, Fencing, and MMA.

  1. Group Fitness

Spend an hour each week getting fit doing a variety of group fitness activities taught by experienced trainers. Campus Rec offers classes such as Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, Women’s Weight Training, Kickboxing and many more!
