RINGETTE

The University of Ottawa ringette program is currently in its 7th year and has provided many athletes with the opportunity to continue playing the sport they love while pursuing a post-secondary education. The team competes throughout the year in the A division of the local 18+ ringette league, and participates in tournaments in various locations.

Ringette at the University of Ottawa has enjoyed considerable success over the years. In January 2006, the Ottawa Gee-Gees captured the national University Challenge Cup championship held in Winnipeg, and in January 2009, came home from the same national event in Niagara Falls with the silver medal. In 2010, the Gee-Gees A team placed third in the Ontario Provincial Championships, and also earned the gold medal in the local league finals.

Players participating in the Gee-Gees ringette program can expect to find an immediate community of friends – ones who share a passion for the sport, and the thrill of competition.

This competitive club team usually has one to two practice and/or conditioning ice-times per week, and plays one league game per week. Players should expect to participate in the national university ringette championships, as well as other tournaments (to be decided upon within the team). Through the support of the university, and fundraising by the team, the cost of participating in the program is kept affordable.

Tryouts begin during the first or second week of classes. Tryout and other information is available through the coach, who can be contacted at the e-mail address or phone number listed below.
