Gee Gees Women’s Golf Back On Course

2011 marks the return of Women’s Golf to the Gee Gee heard.  On 24-25 September the team of (left to right in photo) Courtenay Whyte, Laine Collins, Jenna Hilborn, Danica McLellan, and Erin O’Reilly headed to The Orchards Golf Club in Hadley, Massachusetts for the NCAA’s Mt Holyoke Invitational.  This tough course, that hosted the LPGA’s US Women’s Open in 2004, was made tougher by the swamp like conditions and thick rough.

The girls played as well as they could given the conditions and their scores improved over the weekend.  The team goal of fielding a team that can compete with the NCAA Div 3 teams was met.  The team represented the University of Ottawa and Canada extremely well and made an impact with their great attitudes and joi de vivre.  The next tournament will be held on the weekend of Oct 1 & 2 in Cortland NY at the NCAA’s Martin and Wallace Invitational.
