| Team Standards | ||
| The level of play has slowly been improving. A score of 152 or better is what is preferred in a 2-day event, recognized by the coach, not a local club event where you play as a member. Currently, the level required to make the "top 5" is play at the provincial level in the men's amateur, not only qualifying, but making the cut. Play at the junior level, like the provincial or national junior championship, is certainly looked upon favorably. Having yourself ranked high up on any of the numerous ranking ladders that are available to you, either as a junior, and especially as an amateur, does not hurt either. |
| Team Play | ||
| The Gee-Gees play many tournaments in the United States in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) play and mostly in the fall, as an invited team. The money for this play is earned by fund raising, which everyone must participate in during the fall and winter terms. For this reason, preference for team membership will be given to Ottawa valley players who play in OVGA/QGA events (Ottawa may be in Ontario, but provincially plays amateur golf under the QGA umbrella, not the GAO). The team also plays a limited schedule in the provincial university golf league in Ontario in the fall, and currently in the national championship in the spring run by the NSO responsible for golf. Both the latter play is subject to availability of funds provided to the team either by the school and/or elsewhere. |
| Academic Requirements | ||
| 12 credit hours minimum taken per term and not just passed. GPA per term 5.0 (B-) out of 10.0 or above for access to unrestricted away play. GPA 4.0 (C-) to 5.0, advised to raise GPA next term, potential restrictions on away play. GPA below 4.0 = academic probation, plus restrictions on away play. Two terms in a row below 4.0 will equal a suspension. |
| Additional Requirements | ||
| The team is run via e-mail and the phone. Having your own e-mail address and a computer to access the internet is a team requirement. Because of our play in the United States, a valid passport is required. |
