Head coach: Andy McInnis

Ottawa Lions Track and Field club director Andy McInnis is in his second season as Gee-Gees head coach and program director for both men’s and women’s cross-country and track teams.

McInnis, 54 (born in London, Ont.) has a long and storied history with athletics in Ottawa, Canada, the United States, and across the globe.

 


With a resume that includes five Olympics, including head coach for Canada at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, leading a series of stellar results in the sprints, with gold medals from Donovan Bailey and the Men's4 x 100m Relay Team, and adding 10 World Championships, McInnis has coached athletes from 15 to 70 years of age, from beginners to world medallists, from high school frosh to doctors, scientists and business leaders.

A recipient of the Coaching Association of Canada’s Wittnauer Coaching Excellence award for international successes, McInnis has also coached track as Louisiana State (1984-88) and the University of Hawaii (2001-05) and brings a firm understanding of numerous development models for building champions.
