A little about myself…
|
I grew up in Toronto, Ont., and started playing basketball in middle school. I got serious about it when I was in grade eight. I played for the club team Toronto Five-O for six years, then got recruited to uOttawa. So I packed my bags and waved good-bye to the city I loved and my family. You know the show 'Modern Family' – well I have a real one. My mother and father had me, then adopted my little sister. She was two years old at the time and I was five. A year later my mother passed away. (Last year, along with several other varsity athletes, we raised $14,000 through cuts for cancer. The event is happening again this year if anyone is interested in helping out. Cancer sucks. ) Just over a year later, my dad married one of my best friend’s mother. She had two daughters from her previous marriage. So how did I develop my passion for writing? Well, you can imagine on long road trips, in a van full of four girls close in age, it got pretty crazy. The way to keep us all quiet on the long ride was by listening to books on tape (yes, it was on cassette tapes then) for the ride.... And I was hooked. I don't read much outside of school but I adore audiobooks and just being told a story of any kind. I was always a bit of a writer and if you knew me before you would know I'm a story teller. Put this all together and what do you get? A basketball player listening to books on tape while she works out and going home to write any time she can. Thus, HannaH as a geegees.ca campus rec writer was born... |
