The uOttawa Athletes of the Week for November 14 are Anthony Brodeur from the surging men’s hockey team, and Sabrina Roy from women’s volleyball.
Brodeur backstopped the Gee-Gees to a 4-0 win on Saturday against Laurier. The Human Kinetics student from Morin-Heights, Que. made 29 saves en route to posting the first shutout of the 2016-17 men’s hockey season. Brodeur’s performance on Saturday extended the Gee-Gees winning streak to three games following a pair of 2-1 wins over the last two weeks. Ottawa returns to home ice this weekend to face Brock (7-4-0) and York (7-4-1) at the uOttawa Minto Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday nights.
Roy provided the defensive anchor for her squad as well, making 28 digs in the volleyball team’s 3-1 victory over McGill. The total of 28 is a season high for the third-year Human Kinetics student now ranks third in the RSEQ conference and eleventh in the nation with 4.29 digs per set. The Ottawa native also added three assists for the Gee-Gees from the libero position, helping to power a strong attack overall. Following a road game on Friday the Gee-Gees have one home game this weekend, Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against the Montreal Carabins.
