The uOttawa Athletes of the Week for November 7 are Alex Ellis and Kevin Domingue.
Ellis makes her second appearance on the Athlete of the Week list this season after helping the Gee-Gees women’s rugby team to its best ever finish at the National Championship tournament. Ellis was named the player of the match for Ottawa in the extremely hard fought quarterfinal against McMaster, and then played every minute of the semifinal the following day to secure a spot in the gold medal match. Ellis, who is a member of Barrhaven Scottish rugby club, the Quebec Senior Women’s Team, and Canada’s U20 squad, was named to the Tournament All-Star team after Ottawa took the silver medal.
Domingue provided the winning goal in Ottawa’s 2-1 win over Concordia on Saturday night. The product of Laval, Que. has been a consistent offensive threat for uOttawa during the first month of the regular season and co-leads the Gee-Gees with three goals and six total points. All of his goals have come at even strength, while one of his assists also came in Saturday’s win. The win is the second of the season for uOttawa, but it came against the no. 6 ranked team in the nation.
