HEADLINE: McDonald scores twice in first Gee-Gees men’s hockey win
Fourth-year centre Dan McDonald scored twice and added two assists and second-year left wing Ryne Gove had the game winner in the third period to go with two assists In the Gee-Gees 4-3 men’s hockey win over McGill Saturday night.
“We got some momentum and went with it,” said Gove, who scored the winner at 17:07 of the third period as the Gee-Gees earned their first win of the season in the OUA Far East.
“It feels good to get the monkey off our back.” Third-year left wing Yanick Charron had a goal and three assists.
The Gee-Gees, which finished ahead in shots 30-21, killed off a six-on-four advantage with 10.5 seconds left to preserve the win.
“That was a tough team to beat,” said Gee-Gees goaltender Riley Whitlock of the winless Redmen (0-2), which featured 12 first-year players.
The Gee-Gees host Concordia (1-0-1) Friday, October, 17 (7:00 p.m.)
