The University of Ottawa men’s hockey team is proud to host its first-ever Military Appreciation Night in conjunction with its home game against the Royal Military College Paladins on October 14, 2016.
The night will feature two major giveaways; the first 25 fans into the arena will receive a t-shirt, while the first 200 will be entered into a draw for Ottawa Senators tickets valued at $150.
On the ice, the Gee-Gees will take on a Paladins team that grabbed headlines on opening weekend with an eye-opening 5-4 upset of the Carleton Ravens in Carleton’s home opener.
Second-year head coach Richard Lim’s team brings the trademark grit and hustle the Royal Military College is known for, with added depth and improved systems. Forwards Bruce Hornbook (2-0-2) and Deric Boudreau (1-1-2) are the players to watch offensively, while former Regina Pat Alex Pym (0-1-1) leads the blueline corps for the Paladins. Goaltender Matt Murphy (4.50, .880), a 2015 transfer from Windsor, can shut things down in net when hot.
Most notably, the Paladins have shown no ill effects after losing top scorers Scott Domenico and Eric Louis-Seize to graduation, scoring six goals in their first two games.
These teams met in the preseason with Ottawa taking a 7-1 victory in Kingston.
