The U SPORTS seventh-ranked Gee-Gees women’s soccer team (7-1-3) are playing their first home matches in over a month this weekend. On Saturday, the team takes on the struggling RMC Paladins (0-10), a team they defeated 6-0 on Sept. 9. The following day, the team has the first of two Top 10 matchups to close the season. The tenth-ranked Queen’s Gaels (7-2-1) and the Gee-Gees played to a draw in Kingston last month, so the matchup is sure to excite. The U SPORTS sixth-ranked Gee-Gees women’s rugby team (4-1) are playing three times at home over the holiday weekend. On Friday, it is a rematch of last year’s national final as the Gee-Gees take on the top-ranked StFX X-Women (4-0) in exhibition action. On Friday, the first match at 5 p.m. will be between the team’s rookies, while the second at 6:20 will be between the veterans. Friday is the Rowan Stringer Memorial Game, which raises awareness and funds for Rowan’s Legacy, dealing with concussions in the sport. The Gee-Gees cross country teams are participating in Université Laval’s invitational in Quebec, Que. this weekend. After both men’s and women’s teams received votes in the first week of U SPORTS rankings, the teams will look to grab the attention of voters once again this weekend. Following a 1-1 road trip to Pennsylvania, where they lost to Robert Morris University, but defeated the nationally tenth-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, the hockey team plays their final exhibition game on Friday at 7 p.m. against a Queen’s Gaels team that knocked them out of the playoffs last season.
