The University of Ottawa's women's rugby and soccer teams are undefeated this season with a combined record of 10-0-1. The country has taken notice, and this week both squads are ranked no. 2 in the CIS Top Ten Polls. This week, the women are joined by the football team who earned a no. 9 ranking following a 52-24 home win over Windsor.
The football team is now averaging 45 points per game and rank fifth in the nation with 362 passing yards per game. The Gee-Gees have scored at least forty points in each of the three games to begin the season. On the defensive side, the team’s ten sacks ranks third. Ottawa will take on no. 5 ranked Guelph Gryphons (4-0) on Saturday in Guelph.
Rugby moves into no. 2 after one week at no. 3, establishing a new all-time highest ranking in the process. The Gee-Gees picked up two victories in the week since the last poll, topping Carleton 91-0 and Bishop's 72-5. The defending RSEQ champions will host no. 7 ranked Concordia at Matt Anthony Field on Saturday September 26 at 3 p.m.
The women's soccer squad has now won six straight matches, picking up victories over Nipissing and Laurentian this weekend. The team holds onto the no. 2 national ranking for the second straight week. Steve Johnson's crew will take on Carleton this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Ravens' home field.
