The East West Bowl showcases – for the most part - CIS players who will be eligible for the following year’s CFL draft. The East side is comprised of student-athletes representing schools from the AUS and RSEQ conferences, as well as Carleton, Ottawa, Queen’s and Toronto. The West contingent is made up of players from Canada West and the remaining OUA universities.
Care notched 22 tackles in seven games during the 2014 season – his first in garnet and grey. The 6-foot-1, 215 pound native of Burlington, Ont. previously suited up for the Bishop’s University Gaiters where he recorded 26.5 tackles in his 2012 sophomore season.
Laurin led Ottawa in tackles with 34.5 in 2013, his best season thus far. In 2014 the Cantley, Que. product showed his versatility, moving between wide and middle linebacker as well as providing special teams coverage to pick up 2.4 tackles per game.
Timbilla picked up two sacks and four tackles for loss this season as part of his 21.5 tackles. The 6-foot-3, 252 pound lineman out of Nepean, Ont. also had one sack in 2013.
In addition to the game itself, the week-long event includes daily practices, a combine for participating players (May 6), the CFL Free Agency Camp for players eligible to attend 2015 CFL training camps and not participating in the East West Bowl (May 6), a coaches clinic featuring presentations by CFL and CIS mentors (May 9), as well as the annual banquet (May 7).
