After setting the uOttawa record for reception yards in a season, Ian Stewart was recognized as a First Team All-Canadian by Canadian Interuniversity Sport on Thursday evening at the Sun Life Financial All-Canadian Banquet presented by Mallette.

The awards gala was held at the Hilton Quebec hotel as part of the CIS championship celebrations. The University of Montreal Carabins face-off against the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in the ArcelorMittal Vanier Cup presented by Promutuel Assurance on Saturday at 1 p.m. EST at TELUS-UL Stadium in Quebec City. Coverage on TVA Sports and Sportsnet / Sportsnet 360 gets underway with pre-game shows at noon and 12:30 pm, respectively. The 51st CIS football final will also be streamed live on the web at CIS-SIC.tv.
Stewart led the nation with an average of 136.4 receiving yards per game, totalling 1091 yards in eight games. Nine of the fifth-year’s 57 receptions were for touchdowns, and he set a Gee-Gees record with 228 yards in a single game, October 3 against Carleton. Stewart, from Burlington, Ont., was named to the OUA First All-Star team for the first time this season. He also led the Gee-Gees in receiving in 2014, catching 44 passes fro 550 yards. He finishes his time with the garnet and grey with 2263 career receiving yards, which ranks third on the Gee-Gees all-time list.
In total, the University of Ottawa football program has had 88 All-Canadians, dating back to 1970. That includes 24 members of the second team.
