The women’s rugby team rolled to a 38-19 win over Concordia at its Home Opener on Saturday in front of over 500 fans at Matt Anthony Field. The Gee-Gees ran out to a 21-0 lead and held on thanks to great overall team play featuring both veterans and younger players. Samantha Alli, a third-year Health Sciences student, made the play of the game when she intercepted a Stingers pass and ran it in for the fourth Gee-Gees try. Watch the play on Instagram.

The women’s soccer team defeated RMC 6-0 and drew 1-1 against Queen’s. Ottawa was ranked tenth in the U SPORTS national Top Ten poll this week, while Queen’s is ranked no. 5. The Gee-Gees are now 4-1-1 this season and have two players among the Ontario leaders in points scored. Emma Lefebvre, a second-year Nursing student, scored a goal in both games this weekend.

The football team improved its record to 3-0 to start the season with a 26-17 win at York. Running back Donald Shaw, a third-year Human Kinetics student, set a career high with 135 yards rushing while third-year Psychology student Jamie Harry had two interceptions and now leads the nation with three this season.
