Gee-Gees at a glance.

Soccer (4-1-1), leapt six spots in the U SPORTS Top Ten to no. 4 following a blowout win over RMC and a key draw against Queen’s in Kingston. This Sunday, the Gee-Gees travel across the city to take on the Carleton Ravens (3-3-0) at MNP Park. In what always proves to be an entertaining matchup, the Gee-Gees look to continue their success against their rivals. Last season, uOttawa won the first match at home, and played to a draw later in the season at Carleton. Of note, both teams field particularly high octane offensive attacks, the Ravens lead the nation with 19 goals, Ottawa right behind with 18. The difference maker has been in the defence and goaltending of the Gee-Gees, the team has only given up three goals through six matches, which is one of the fewest totals in the nation. Webcast will be available on and admission at Carleton is free. The match is set to get underway at 1 p.m.

The still undefeated Gee-Gees football team (3-0), climbed to the no. 8 ranking in the U SPORTS Top Ten after securing win at York. The team will take to the road again this week, meeting no. 9 McMaster (1-1) on Saturday in Hamilton. In a matchup of rivals, it will be about which team’s offence can find a spark against the opposing team’s solid defence. The two teams have met six-times in the past five seasons and have had some highly competitive battles in both the regular season and playoffs. Last year in their home opener, the Gee-Gees stunned the Marauders, defeating them 30-8 and holding their offence out of the end zone. Watch live on – kickoff is at 1:04 p.m.

Women’s rugby (1-1) travels to take on Montréal (1-1) at 1 p.m. The team debuted at no. 5 in the U SPORTS Top Ten after a resounding win over no. 8 Concordia in their home opener. The team will take to the road and hope to build on their momentum against the Carabins. The Gee-Gees complete team effort against Concordia will be a model the team will hope to base the rest of their season on. The game will not be webcast, however, some updates will be available on Twitter at @geegees_wrugby.

Cross country kicks off their season at McGill this weekend. Team members will also be a prominent feature at Sunday’s Canada Army Run, where uOttawa athletes have won the men’s and women’s 5 km events for the past several years.

Both the men’s and women’s hockey teams kick off their 2017-18 exhibition schedule this weekend. Women’s hockey takes home ice against Brock at 1 p.m. on Sunday, while the men’s team is on the road playing Nipissing and Laurentian on Friday and Saturday. Updates on the team’s exhibition action will be posted on their respective Twitter accounts at @UOttawaMHockey and @geegees_whockey
