The Gee-Gees football program has hired Jean-Vincent Posy-Audette as defensive coordinator. Posy-Audette will move to uOttawa from the Montreal Alouettes where he was a scout and football operations assistant for the 2015 season.

The move marks a return to CIS football after two years with the Alouettes. A two-time All-Canadian at defensive back, Posy-Audette won the Vanier Cup as a player with the Rouge et Or in 1999 before being drafted by the Toronto Argonauts. After two seasons with the boatmen Posy-Audette began his full-time coaching career with the Montreal Carabins as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach.

In 2007 he moved to the Sherbrooke Vert et Or in the same roles and became defensive coordinator in 2012. That season the team was first in the CIS with five defensive touchdowns, sixth in interceptions with 13, and tenth with 23.3 points allowed per game. Between the Carabins and Vert et Or, the 39-year old has 12 seasons of coaching experience in the CIS.

“I am excited about the opportunity to return to coaching and the University of Ottawa has so many positives,” says Posy-Audette, listing the academic environment, downtown location, and bilingual nature of the institution as advantages to student-athletes before continuing, “I always saw Ottawa as a sleeping giant - there is so much potential and I believe Jamie is doing a great job. I’m just a new piece of the puzzle but I’ll work hard to bring back the glory days.

“He comes strongly recommended and I was impressed by his enthusiasm and passion,” says Gee-Gees head coach Jamie Barresi, who will begin his fourth season at the helm in 2016. “His experience in the pros both coaching and playing is extremely valuable. He is a good communicator and I think the players will enjoy learning from him.”

Posy-Audette, who is bilingual, is originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Foundation for the Sustainable Development of Haiti since 2007. He has attended three NFL camps as a guest coach with the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears  and has coached within the Quebec provincial team system as defensive coordinator at the U17 level, winning two national championships.

The 114th season of Gee-Gees football will begin on September 5, 2016. For full schedule information, visit the team page.
