Ontario University Athletics released its 2016 football schedule on Thursday, setting up the road to the 109th Yates Cup. Full schedule information is available on the OUA website.
Ottawa’s 114th season will open on Labour Day Monday as the Gee-Gees draw a week one bye for the second year in a row. The garnet and grey will travel to Waterloo, Ont., to face the Warriors on September 5, looking to start a third straight season with a win in their first game of the season.
The Panda Game, which is a Carleton home game in 2016, will take place on Saturday, October 1 at 1 p.m. at TD Place. The 2015 edition drew 17,596 spectators with 5,000 student tickets sold on the uOttawa campus.
That week six matchup will be preceded by two Gee-Gees home games, against McMaster and Guelph, on back-to-back Saturdays September 10 and 17.
Ottawa will enjoy three straight games in the nation’s capital as the Panda Game will be followed by home games against York and Western at Gee-Gees Field.
The garnet and grey will then close out the schedule with a short trip to Kingston, Ont., to face the Queen’s Gaels at the new Richardson Stadium in the final week of the regular season.
Non-combatants for Ottawa in 2016 regular season will be Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier.
