The Gee-Gees are entering the winter season with the men’s basketball team ranked no. 1 in the nation. After being established as the preseason no. 1 a week ago, Ottawa’s two wins to open the regular season buoyed its vote count and the Gee-Gees received 29 of 47 first place votes this week.

Ottawa’s dominant performances against Nipissing (91-49) and Laurentian (97-66) earned an additional 18 first place votes compared to last week’s poll.

The Gee-Gees have a tough road trip ahead of them this weekend, flying to Lakehead for a Friday night tilt and relocating to Guelph for Saturday night. Ottawa will then close out its November schedule at home, and will first face a ranked team on Saturday, November 28 when Western is slated to visit Montpetit Hall.
