Fourth-year guard Josh Gibson-Bascombe scored 18 points Friday night as the Gee-Gees used subs for much of the second-half in a 88-52 home win over 2-14 Laurentian.
Head coach Dave DeAveiro, the eighth head coach in uOttawa men’s basketball program history in his eighth season, tied the all-time coaching wins record with his 166th overall win as the No. 2 Gee-Gees improved to 14-2 in the OUA East, winning for the ninth time in the last 10 meetings against Laurentian.
uOttawa, which had four players score at least 10 points, led 45-24 at the half.
All 12 uOttawa players played at least seven minutes as the Gee-Gees went to its bench for the second half.
Fourth-year transfer guard Josh Wright started for the first time in his sixth regular season game with the Gee-Gees after transferring from Syracuse, scoring 15 points with five rebounds over 21 minutes.
DeAveiro has a career regular season coaching record of 109-61 and is 166-104 overall to tie Jack Eisenmannm, who finished 83-115 in the regular season and with a 166-221 overall record while coaching uOttawa men’s basketball over 12 seasons from 1989-1990 to 2000-01.
