There’s no longer an undefeated men’s basketball team in the OUA this season.
The Gee-Gees put an end to that with a convincing 93-56 victory over the previously undefeated Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay on Saturday night.
Lakehead came into the contest with an impressive 7-0 record including a win over No.1 Carleton on Friday night.
But it was all Gee-Gees as they dominated their opposition from the opening tip-off and ending up winning by an incredible 37 points.
All but one Gee-Gees player put up points in the victory.
uOttawa swept their opposition over the weekend with a victory over McMaster on Friday night followed by their dismantling of Lakehead on Saturday.
The Gee-Gees head into the exam period and the Christmas break on a four game winning streak.
“Saturday night’s game was our best to date,” said Gee-Gees head coach, Dave DeAveiro. We knew that we had to have a good effort against Lakehead especially after their victory over Carleton on Friday night. Even though we scored 93 points we played extremely well defensively limiting them to just 26 points in the first half. It’s a great way for us to go into the break.”
The Gee-Gees played their last regular season game of the first semester on Saturday night. uOttawa will resume OUA play on Friday, January 8, 2010 against York at Montpetit Hall.
