Gee-Gees sweep second win in Toronto against Rams

The Gee-Gees will be returning home from Toronto with two wins after defeating the Ryerson Rams 92-63 Saturday evening, bringing their winning record into double digits at 10-2.

The Gee-Gees outscored Ryerson every quarter, picking up the momentum even more in the second half to outscore the Rams 46-29.

Fifth-year guard Donnie Gibson (Kingston, Ont.) led the Gee-Gees in scoring with 21 points, followed by fifth-year guard Josh Gibson-Bascombe (Toronto, Ont.) with 19 points. 

Good contributions from the bench also contributed to the win, with first-year guard Kemeish Edwards (Brampton, Ont.) shooting three for three at the three point line and chipping in a total of 13 points and 6 rebounds, as well as second-year Max Clarkson (Peterborough, Ont.) and third-year Matt Riendeau (Ottawa, Ont.) both contributing 10 points.

“It was a total team effort tonight,” explained head coach Dave DeAveiro. “The guys were doing what we asked them to; whenever this happens they are going to be successful.”

“Any time we come home with two wins on the road, it’s a good weekend,” DeAveiro added.

The Gee-Gees are back at home next weekend, hosting RMC (0-13 OUA) Friday, January 22, and Queen’s (7-6 OUA) Saturday, January 23 (Rogers). Game times are 8:00 p.m. (SSN Canada)
