Men’s Basketball (1-3 OUA)
At Laurier (3-1 OUA) Saturday, November 13, 3:00 p.m. at the Wilfrid Laurier Athletic Complex.
Hoping to make up for last night’s 81-69 loss to Waterloo, the Gee-Gees had a similar result against Laurier this afternoon. The garnet and grey dropped their second game in two days by a score of 91-71.
First-year guard Johny Berhanemeskel, Ottawa, Ont., led the Gee-Gees in scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 23 points. Yet the loss third-year guard Warren Ward, London, Ont., was evident again tonight as the Gee-Gees could not contain Laurier’s Kale Harrison who scored 30 points and 6 rebounds.
Head coach James Derouin again acknowledged that not having Warrenin the line up was not part of the game plan going into this weekend, but he was nevertheless pleased with the effort he got from his team this weekend: “We competed, and we played hard against a really good basketball team. Defensively we didn’t get the stops that we needed today, but I am happy with the effort.”
The Gee-Gees will continue a their western road swing next weekend as they visit Windsor on Friday, November 19, 8:00 p.m., and then Western on Saturday, November 20, 8:00 p.m.
