Second-year guard Warren Ward scored 21 points and made 11 rebounds Friday night as the uOttawa Gee-Gees dismantled the Laval Rouge et Or, 93-72, in a game where six Gee-Gees scored double digit points.

“We played well, but we have a long way to go,” said head coach Dave DeAveiro.

Also helping out the Gee-Gees was fifth-year guard Donnie Gibson with 14 points.

Leading only by one point at the half, the Gee-Gees outscored the Rouge-et-Or 54-34 in the second half leading to the lopsided win.

“We just wore them down with our depth,” added DeAveiro.

Next up for the Gee-Gees are the Cape Breton University Capers on October 23, 2009 at 8 p.m. at Monpetit Hall. The Capers, along with the Toronto Varsity Blues, and the Bishop’s University Gaiters, are making the trip to Ottawa to play in the annual Jack Donohue Tip-Off Tournament, hosted by uOttawa, which runs from October 23 – 25.
