X-Men: Christian Upshaw 25 points, 4 rebounds. Alberto Rodriquez 15 points, 5 assists.

The good news is the Gee-Gees scored 82 points but the bad news is they gave up 97 as they were defeated by the St-Francis Xavier X-Men on Saturday evening at the 2009 Rod Shoveller Basketball Tournament hosted by Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“We didn’t play well defensively against the X-Men, we simply didn’t have it,” said Dave DeAveiro, Gee-Gees head coach. “They are one of the best teams we’ve faced this season.  We had some good moments but weren’t good enough defensively.”

The Gee-Gees outscored the X-Men in the first and fourth quarters.

uOttawa fell behind 47-40 at the half then gave up 50 points in the final two quarters compared to the Gee-Gees 42 point output.

The Gee-Gees will meet the loser of the Saint Mary’s Huskies/Dalhousie Tigers contest on Sunday afternoon in the Bronze medal game.

St. FX will meet the winner in the championship final.
