FEATURE GAMES

Both the men’s and women’s hockey teams are holding their home openers this weekend.

The men’s team is up first on Saturday, as they take on the Concordia Stingers at 7 p.m. The Gee-Gees defeated the Stingers 2-1 in the only matchup between the teams last year. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday. A full season preview for the women's team will be available on Thursday. Tickets are available online for both games at tickets.geegees.ca and both will be streaming live on OUA.tv.

HOME GAMES

After a restful bye week, the Gee-Gees football team (4-2) is back in action at home against Waterloo (4-3) on Saturday. After an emphatic start to the season for the Warriors, they have fallen on harder times as of late, losing their last three games. The Gee-Gees are looking to respond after suffering their second loss this season and with playoff positioning on the line, the game should be very exciting. Kickoff is set for 1 pm at Gee-Gees Field and the game will stream live on OUA.tv.

The cross country teams are participating in Jim Howe Memorial Cross Country Races at the Capital XC Challenge at Mooney’s Bay Park this weekend. After solid results, in Quebec City last weekend, the team will look to use familiar settings to their advantage on Saturday. The men’s race starts at 2:30 and the women’s at 3 p.m. Updates will be available on Twitter at @geegees_track throughout the weekend’s events.

The University of Ottawa is hosting the OUA Golf Championships at Loch March Golf & Country Club in Kanata this weekend. Both Gee-Gees men’s and women’s teams will be in action, the tournament kicks off on Friday and draws to a close on Sunday. More information and results will be posted on Twitter at @uOttawaGeeGees.

AWAY

The U SPORTS seventh-ranked Gee-Gees women’s soccer team (9-1-3) are back on the road this weekend. On Saturday, the team take on the Trent Excalibur (2-8-2) in Peterborough, ON. The Gee-Gees defeated Trent 4-1 in their home opener at the end of August. Sunday’s matchup is key for uOttawa, as they look to even the score with second-ranked UOIT in Oshawa. The Ridgebacks dealt the Gee-Gees their only loss of the season in a 1-0 decision on Aug. 27. The game will provide a solid look ahead at playoffs as the OUA East’s two top teams may be destined to meet again in a few week’s time. Both matches are underway at 1 p.m. Live updates will be available on Twitter at @geegees_wsoccer.

The U SPORTS fifth-ranked Gee-Gees women’s rugby team (5-1) are prepared to play their final match of the regular season at Carleton (4-2) on Sunday. EXHIBITION

The women’s volleyball team is hosting the Three Conference Challenge Series at Montpetit Hall this weekend. The Gee-Gees will be playing three times, taking on competition from the OUA and AUS.
