Justin Serresse will be the next head coach of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s basketball team after spending the last six seasons as an assistant coach on the Gee-Gees sideline with James Derouin. Serresse was an integral part of the coaching staff which oversaw uOttawa’s 2014 Wilson Cup win and run of four straight appearances at the CIS Final 8, including two silver medals.

Serresse was formally added to the coaching staff on a full-time basis by the University of Ottawa in 2013 and has been the Lead Assistant Coach since that time. He has also shown his player development skills as head coach of Ottawa’s U19 Next Level club program.

"Justin has dedicated himself to the goal of becoming a head coach and I have no doubt that he will be a great success,” says Derouin. “He was with me from day one and made a major impact on not only the program and our players but the entire Service here at uOttawa.  He will be greatly missed and we wish him all the best at Laurier."

Laurier made the announcement on Thursday with Serresse on-hand in Waterloo. Serresse fills the gap left by retired head coach Peter Campbell. The Gee-Gees expect to have an update on the assistant coach hiring process within the next two weeks.
