Fourth-year guard Josh Gibson-Bascombe scored 23 points to lead No. 3 Gee-Gees men’s basketball in scoring for the 11th time in 19 regular season games Saturday in an 89-70 road win at Ryerson.
The Gee-Gees improved to 17-2 and out-scored the Rams 23-8 in the second quarter to take a commanding 47-32 lead at the half.
“Sloppy game,” said Gee-Gees head coach Dave DeAveiro. “Too many turnovers on our part.”
uOttawa, finishing with 20 turnovers to the Rams 21, remains one game behind No. 1 Carleton (18-1) atop the OUA East.
Gee-Gees fifth-year post player Dax Dessureault and rookie forward Warren Ward each had 18 points. Fourth-year transfer guard Josh Wright chipped in 15 points and four rebounds.
uOttawa is home to RMC and Queen’s next weekend before a OUA East regular season-ending home game against No. 1 Carleton on Saturday, February 21.
