GAME STORY:

Fourth-year guard Josh Gibson-Bascombe scored a game-high 23 points Saturday night in a 100-64 dismantling of Queen’s to set up a first-place showdown against No. 1 Carleton next Saturday to end the 2008-09 regular season.  


The Gee-Gees improved to 19-2 in the OUA East and will face No. 1 Carleton (20-1) in the final regular season game of the season Saturday, February 21 (8:00 p.m.)(SSN Canada)(Rogers Television).


“I’m proud we’re in a position to be playing for first place,” said Gee-Gees head coach Dave DeAveiro. “But I also think we are capable of playing better.”


Fifth-year post Dax Dessureault scored 22 points with seven rebounds for the Gee-Gees.


Fourth-year transfer guard Josh Wright scored a game-high 11 points with six rebounds in the first half as the Gee-Gees coasted to a 41-23 lead.


Gaels fifth-year forward Robert Shaw was assessed two technical fouls and second-year guard Tim Boyle one technical in a bizarre sequence at 6:59 of the third quarter, leaving Gibson-Bascombe at the line shooting six free shots.
