Fifth-year guard Josh Gibson-Bascombe (Toronto, Ont.) had 31 points and 12 rebounds Friday night to lead the uOttawa Gee-Gees to a 90-82 win over a talented and challenging UQAM Citadins team.
“We played like a team that just stepped off the bus,” said head coach Dave DeAveiro, “but we had enough going down the stretch.”
Down 42-34 at the half, the Gee-Gees had their work cut out for them, but were able to go up by four points by the end of the third quarter. From there, the Gee-Gees were able to surpass their athletic opponents, winning the game. Fifth-year guard Donnie Gibson (Odessa, Ont.) added 20 points to the Gee-Gees’ effort.
“It was a good challenge,” added DeAveiro, “Our goal is to get better every day.”
The Redbird Classic Tournament continues tomorrow at McGill University with the Gee-Gees facing the McGill Redmen at 3:00 p.m.
