Friday night marks the fourth and final meeting between the Gee-Gees men’s hockey team (8-4-2) and rival Carleton Ravens (8-4-2). Most recently, the Gee-Gees defeated the Ravens at the Colonel By Classic. The Gee-Gees have a chance to even the score on the season after Carleton was victorious in the first meetings. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at Minto Sports Complex. A full preview will be available on the Gee-Gees website ahead of the game.
In one of the nation’s marquee matchups of the week, the U SPORTS ninth-ranked Gee-Gees men’s basketball team (6-2) is in St. Catharines to take on the second-ranked Brock Badgers (9-0) on Friday night. The teams split their two meetings last season, with the Gee-Gees earning a win at home in the regular season, while Brock bested the Gee-Gees narrowly for OUA Bronze in the playoffs. In a clash of titans, Gee-Gees forward Jean Emmanuel Pierre-Charles, who is averaging 14.5 points and 9.2 rebounds per game goes up against Badgers forward 18.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. The following night, the team will head to Hamilton to take on McMaster (1-7) in what has historically been a solid matchup. Both games are set to tip-off at 8 p.m. and will be steaming live on OUA.tv.
The Gee-Gees women’s basketball team (3-5) is also on the road this weekend, first taking on Brock (4-5) on Friday, followed by a matchup with U SPORTS eighth-ranked McMaster on Saturday. The Gee-Gees have been struggling to find their footing to start the season, but two wins on the road could go a long way in the team’s maturation. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. for both games and will be steaming live on OUA.tv.
The Gee-Gees women's hockey team (5-2-1) are across-town to take on the Carleton Ravens (3-6) on Friday. The teams have split their matchups on the season so far, with Carleton winning the first, but the Gee-Gees responding with a 2-1 win on Nov. 19. The game gets underway at 7 p.m. and will be streaming live on OUA.tv.
Gee-Gees women's volleyball (3-6) is also in action for their final match of the semester. The team will travel to take on the U SPORTS number-one ranked Montreal Carabins (8-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m. In their only meeting of the season, the Carabins were victorious, winning 3-1 on Oct. 29. The game will be live streamed on Montreal's YouTube channel.
Gee-Gees men’s hockey closes out their final weekend of the semester against the Queen’s Gaels (7-4-3) in Kingston on Saturday. In what is always an exciting matchup, the Gee-Gees will look to get their first win at the Memorial Centre since November of last year. The puck is set to drop at 7:30 and the game will be streaming live on OUA.tv.
Gee-Gees track and field are kicking off their season at the Cornell Relays hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Action is set for Saturday and Sunday and results will be posted on the team’s Twitter account at @geegees_trackxc.
The Gee-Gees women’s rugby sevens team is hosting an exhibition tournament at the Gee-Gees Field dome on Saturday. The event is not open to the general public, but information and results will be posted on Twitter at @geegees_wrugby and on the Gee-Gees website after the event.
