NOTES

*The Gee-Gees split their final two regular-season games in Kingston over the weekend, losing to Queen’s (82-74) on Friday night and responding with an 82-47 victory over the winless Paladins on Saturday.

*The Gee-Gees and Voyageurs both finished with a regular-season record of 12-10. The Gee-Gees achieved fourth place and home court advantage because of their point differential in the two games against Laurentian this season.

*uOttawa defeated Laurentian at Montpetit Hall 73-50 on January 9 and lost to the Voyageurs 75-60 on February 5 in Sudbury.

*Third-year centre Hannah Sunley-Paisley (Toronto, Ont.) continues to lead the CIS standings in total field goals (171-347) and rebounds (237).

*Sunley-Paisley and Laurentian’s fifth-year forward Darrah Bumstead (New Hamburg, Ont.) are tied for first in rebounds per game with 10.8.

*Last season the Gee-Gees were 15-7 in the regular season and earned a bye to the quarter final game against Carleton, which they went on to win 56-49.

“It’s very nice not to have to travel up to Sudbury and play Laurentian,” said Gee-Gees head coach Andy Sparks.

“I’m not sure the gym itself makes a difference, but not having to travel is nice.”

Sparks also noted that the tempo of the game will play a big factor in the final outcome: “For us it’s going to have to be a game where the tempo is set and is where we want it to be.”

“We’re probably going to have to shoot better than we have been shooting all year,” added Sparks.

*If the Gee-Gees defeat Laurentian on Wednesday, they will move on to the OUA quarter finals on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at either Carleton (No. 1 OUA East) or Ryerson (No. 2 OUA East).
